A Singaporean is now one of the co-chairs of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), the highest UN global body on climate science. Associate Professor Winston Chow, a research fellow at the Singapore Management University specialising in urban climate, was elected at a meeting in Nairobi, Kenya. The IPCC was established in 1988 and has 195 member states. It gives governments scientific information to come up with climate policies. The body has three working groups and a task force. A/P Chow will head Workgroup II on climate impact, adaptation and vulnerability.
