Govt agencies to place greater emphasis on workplace safety when evaluating construction tenders

More public sector construction projects will come under the Safety Disqualification Framework, which bars companies with poor safety records from taking part in tenders. Come April, the framework will apply to the main contractor of projects worth between over $90,000 and $1 million. For those above $1 million, it will apply to all contractors involved. Currently, this framework only applies to projects worth $3 million or more. More weightage will also be placed when assessing a company’s safety history in evaluating and selecting contractors.
