Independent Senator Jacqui Lambie says a drop in support for both major parties may mean it’s “prime time” for those wanting to have a run in politics over the next year or two.
“I guess it’s prime time – if you want to have a run in politics and be part of that balance of power and you want to be an independent probably over the next year or two you may want to have a think about that,” Ms Lambie told Sky News Australia.
“I think that as long as the independents that are up there, they continue to perform, the teals obviously they continue to perform as well.
“I think if they continue to do that then I think that helps to encourage other people to have a shot.”
