In this part of The Guardian chronology, we leave Shoghi Effendi’s youth, and his life as a normal person behind forever. The story begins with the shocking and unexpected passing of ‘Abdu’l-Bahá, who was perfectly healthy just days before His untimely passing. Shoghi Effendi is utterly devastated by the shock, and travels back to Haifa. After a few days, he is informed of the provisions of the Will and Testament of ‘Abdul-Bahá: he is now the Guardian of the Cause. We go into detail about the three readings of the Will and Testament of ‘Abdu’l-Bahá, the nine paragraphs in which the Master refers to Shoghi Effendi, the content of the Will and Testament, Shoghi Effendi’s first letters to the Bahá’í world as the Guardian, and the stirrings of Covenant-breaking. The last three sections are undated vignettes of Shoghi Effendi as the Guardian, as the Interpreter of the Word of God, and his approach to his work.
