Taiwan’s farmers find new ways to cope with China’s import ban

Pomelo farmers in Taiwan were hit hard by a Chinese import ban imposed in 2022 following then-US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s visit to the island. In 2021, Taiwan exported more than 7,000 tonnes of pomelos, over 95 per cent of which were exported to mainland China and Hong Kong. CNA’s Chao Fang-hao finds out how these farmers are coping a year later.
