South Korea passes Bill banning dog meat trade

South Korea’s parliament passed a Bill to ban the dog meat trade on Tuesday (Jan 9). Under the legislation, those caught breeding and slaughtering dogs to produce meat for human consumption can face up to three years in prison or fines of up to 30 million won (US$22,800).
