‘Shooting puppies is never good’: Mick Mulvaney on South Dakota governor

Former White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney has commented on South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem who had been on “everyone’s shortlist” for being a possible vice-presidential candidate for Donald Trump.

Mr Mulvaney said Ms Noem had a “very rough couple of days” which culminated in an announcement that her book, which has yet to be published, claimed she met with North Korea’s Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un when it has been proven she did not.

“If you met Kim Jong Un you probably would remember, that it’s been a PR disaster for her, she was on TV in this country just tonight refusing to say whether or not she had met him and at the same time her office was putting out a statement saying that she had not,” Mr Mulvaney told Sky News Australia.

“These are the types of mistakes that get you taken off a vice presidential list very, very quickly.”

The former White House chief of staff also commented on a story that broke out about Ms Noem in which said she had “shot her dog” and that she had also written a story about shooting her dog.

“She’ll tell her story that the dog was aggressive, and it had gone after livestock and people,” he said.

“The story’s being portrayed since the dog was only 14 months old as how she shot her puppy and shooting puppies is never good if you want to be on a vice presidential list.”
