Seven taxi drivers have been fined for overcharging passengers. The Land Transport Authority said the drivers will each have to pay up to $500 and be given either 12 or 21 demerit points. Should they not accept this, LTA will charge them in court. Four of the errant drivers overcharged their customers, with two collecting more than $20 above the actual metered fare. Three others demanded higher fares, but their services were rejected by passengers. LTA said the offences took place at Marina Bay Sands and Changi Airport.
