Man Who Escaped Prison Months Before Release:
A Mississippi man who escaped from prison with only a few months left in his sentence has been sentenced to 40 years in jail. Shunekndrick Huffman broke into a nearby home, held people at gunpoint, and stole a car before crashing it. He was found hiding in a bin and was quickly apprehended. Huffman was serving a seven-year sentence for aggravated assault and was due to be released in four months. However, his escape means he may not be free until his 60s. The Central Mississippi Correctional Facility’s security and the siren system will be improved to prevent future escapes.
