Large quakes are hard to predict, says geophysicist following Taiwan earthquake

Taiwan’s earthquake alert system, which typically provides warnings minutes in advance, did not sound before a 7.2-magnitude quake struck on Wednesday (Apr 3). Geophysicist Stuart Clark tells CNA’s Asia First that while countries have such systems in place, it is ‘very very hard to predict’ a large earthquake.
