In 2020, 45.5% of housing units in California were occupied by renters
California comes in second, just behind New York.
% of Renter-occupied units is increasing.
% of owner-occupied units is decreasing.
owning a home in California is becoming increasingly out of reach.
Last year, it took an annual income of over $220,000 to buy a home in Los Angeles, where the median annual household income in 2020 was just over $65,000.
