Kidnapped British boy fled 'unstable' mother over plan to move to Finland, French authorities say

Alex Batty, the British boy who went missing six years ago, fled his mother because she was planning to take him to Finland, French authorities have said.

The boy’s mother had lost custody of him at the time of his disappearance, and was described by the Toulouse assistant public prosecutor as “rather unstable”.

Alex, who is now set to return to the UK, told police he decided his nomadic lifestyle with his mother “had to stop” when she proposed taking him to Finland.
