How wide is the gap in firepower between Israel and Hamas?

The war between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip has put both parties’ firepower and military capabilities on show. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) is the 18th largest army in the world. For a relatively small country, they have one of the world’s most powerful militaries in terms of firepower, with nearly 10 times as many tanks as the United Kingdom, advanced American combat aircraft, and other high tech equipment. Hamas, on the other hand, is believed to have less than a tenth of the total number of Israeli troops, and lacks most of the hard-hitting and high-end capabilities of the IDF. It relies on hit-and-run tactics, using small arms and explosives and anti-tank and anti-air missiles, and its sprawling underground network of reinforced tunnels. CNA’s Elizabeth Neo explains.
