In her final report into the Robodebt policy disaster, Royal Commissioner Catherine Holmes didn’t hold back.
She says it’s remarkable how little interest there was in the scheme’s legality, how rushed its implementation was, and how little thought was given to the impact on welfare recipients, who were unlawfully chased down for debts they didn’t owe.
Former Coalition ministers have come in for sharp criticism, with some of the strongest findings made against former prime minister, Scott Morrison.
They’ve all defended their actions – and don’t believe they’re in the sealed section of the report, which refers some individuals to police and the Anti-Corruption Commission for further action.
