Better COVID-19 protection for newborns whose mothers get vaccinated while pregnant: KKH study

Mothers who take the COVID-19 jab during pregnancy can provide better immunity against the disease for their unborn child. A study by KK Hospital found that the immunity can last up to six months for the newborn. Nearly 7,300 infants participated in study from January 2022 to March 2023. This is an important discovery because there is currently no COVID-19 vaccine for newborns. Lead author of the study, Associate Professor Yung Chee Fu, who is also a senior consultant of infectious disease at KKH, shared more about the effectiveness of COVID-19 maternal vaccination.
